Lilypond is also open source software which has many advantages over other proprietary (retail) software titles. Luckily, LilyPond has a ready arsenal of tutorials to hold your hand while you venture off in the scripting. I couldn't have explained everything in about LilyPond in just one article. The subcategory Works by language organizes choral music by the language of the text underlay. In addition, there is a list of subcategories which organize music by era/genre/voicing. Compared to other music writing applications - and a lot of you will recognize where I'm coming from - the difference is astonishing. (For LaTeX there’s also a package that works similar to our ConTeXt setup here: lyluatex. This is different from using the lilypond-book preprocessor with LaTeX. With LilyPond, you can write down your music almost as fast as you type. LilyPond is a great music engraver, and you can include LilyPond in ConTeXt source using the filter module with some setup.
